Information Innovation Center (IIC)
The IIC department is VMware’s central source for managing our data as a company asset, for supporting BI and Advanced Analytics. Key functions within IIC including Master Data Management and Information Governance, Business Intelligence, and Advanced Analytics. This is a business-side department that reports into the CFO organization. IIC is a center of excellence organization that acts as a liaison between business stakeholders from all departments and IT partners to drive and help the company to realize the vision for company information as an asset. Most team members have backgrounds in both Business and IT, MDM, BI or Analytics, as well as Consulting.
The Advanced Analytics team within IIC is looking for a customer oriented and analytically driven, experienced Senior Manager with a background in Advanced Analytics/Data Sciences and Business Intelligence, with experience in helping key stakeholders across the organization to leverage analytics to help them realize their business goals. Stakeholder Engagement and thought leadership are key responsibilities for this role. Our Advanced Analytics team is global, having team members in the USA, India, UK and Bulgaria and with stakeholders worldwide. The APJ Advanced Analytics Senior Manager will interface with executives, middle managers, and team members across the APJ region and will report to the Senior Director of Advanced Analytics who is based in the USA. While the role will not involve managing team members, it involves significant interactions with various team members within IIC (and IT, BTA) to support the business needs of APJ business stakeholders.
The role will be responsible for two major areas:
Advanced Analytics Solutioning: Leverage a global team of Advanced Analytics experts and data scientists in IIC to provide thought leadership, and solutions for our stakeholders in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Channel… This leader will collaborate with peers across the Advanced Analytics team to further the use of analytics to drive business value for APJ stakeholders
Leverage best practices for Advanced Analytics Services, Stakeholder Operations / support with SLAs and strict SLA adherence, Metrics and Measurement
Provide expertise and thought leadership to jointly solve problems and provide solutions across analytics and data sciences domains and across the MDM, BI and Analytics IIC functions
understand key stakeholder requirements,
translate into advanced analytics requirements,
propose key analytics solutions to support the business, and
facilitate the delivery of analytics solutions for advanced analytics working with the IIC-Analytics team members
Requires understanding of Advanced Analytics & BI tools, techniques and solutions
Hands-on experience in Advanced Analytics (Mathematical modeling, optimization, statistical analyses) and BI is required
Engagement: Supporting Geo-specific stakeholders in APJ as a team lead for engagement regarding all the offerings of the IIC functions (e.g. Master Data, BI, Analytics, Information Governance); informally (matrix leadership) leading an “account team” of experts from each of the IIC functional areas who will work together to provide thought leadership and value-added services to the assigned stakeholder group(s) as well as prioritization of demand, and managing stakeholder expectations
First line of support to Business Stakeholders for the APJ Geo (Sales, Marketing, Finance)
Supporting APJ requests within appropriate teams of IIC for Analytics, BI and MDM
Trusted advisor and Centralized point of contact for Stakeholders needs for IIC services (Data, BI, Analytics)
Triage needs; provide “connective tissue” to other teams within the IIC Center of Excellence (CoE)
Participate in prioritization routines/advocate for their stakeholders
Accountable for satisfaction of stakeholders
Responsible for translating broad business requirements into instructions for the IIC teams to create output
Responsible for communicating progress/issues related to larger projects, working with the IIC teams to provide SLA’s and other service dimensions back to the business
Responsible for ensuring all direct requests flow into/are captured by IIC prioritization and intake routines working with stakeholders
Works closely with the functional leaders in MDM/Governance, BI, and Analytics to ensure resources are properly assigned to work efforts and are provided appropriate leadership supportThis individual must be able to represent and speak to key business leaders and stakeholders to ensure we are delivering strategic value across the overall program. In addition, this key player must be able to drive the overall analysis, planning and execution of key initiatives. Required Skills and Experience:
Strategic thinker with experience in managing senior executive and stakeholder relationships and expectations across different business functions; business acumen sufficient in a variety of departmental functions to step into the shoes of the stakeholder, with emphasis on Finance, Marketing and Sales, but not limited to these functions.
Superior communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills. Must have combination of superior communication skills (including presentation skills) and Technical skills
Demonstrated track record of leading within complex organizations requiring strong influence management skills - ability to work cooperatively at all levels in matrix environment to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish organizational goals
Proven leader with demonstrated expertise in developing Advanced Analytics requirements and roadmaps to understand and support business stakeholder groups’ success. A thought partner to stakeholders and for the team
Excellent project and program management skills and experience
Domain expertise in Advanced Analytics. 5 – 7 years’ experience in Business Analysis, Requirements Development, and solutions implementation, in Analytics/BI
5+ years’ experience and expertise in Advanced Analytics and BI
5+ years’ experience and expertise in Analytics and related tools such as R, SAS, Alpine Data Labs, Python
Implementation experience of BI, and Analytics to enable and support success of business functions
Knowledge of and experience with enterprise source systems, including PRM, CRM, SFA, and ERP and strong understanding of enterprise integration.
Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Data Sciences, Mathematics, analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or Engineering related preferred
Master’s degree in Analytics, Comp Science or Technology-related field a plus
This position is based in VMware’s APJ regional office, located in Singapore. Must be able to work full time from this location, with ability to travel across APJ and the globe, as required (approximately 15-25%).
