Arup Lighting Leader in NA, Singapore

The purpose of this role is to lead the lighting design team within the Singapore Buildings Group in Singapore.

  • Lead the Singapore lighting design team to be a successful business

  • Provide advice to Senior Management in general, and report on issues relating to the growth and development of the lighting design business for Singapore

  • Develop and maintain the lighting design capability of the team, including leading the training and development of staff

  • Review and supervise the lighting design work within the team generally to ensure that quality standards are met

  • Lead the lighting team in providing lighting design input for a broad range of projects within the general building engineering

  • Lead the preparation of detailed tender submissions to clients

  • Lead the preparation of project reports for clients around lighting design issues and strategically advising on best outcomes taking into account the total context in which the client operates

  • Develop systems and concepts for a sustainable approach to lighting design, in line with Arup’s sustainability strategy.

  • Liaise with other engineering-discipline groups on design issues

  • Provide assistance and support to other groups within the Australasia Region as required

  • Lead the team in being active in the Arup global skills networks relevant to the lighting design team

  • Support Arup’s compliance in maintaining ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirement.

Design-Related and Management Related Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in or related to Lighting / Architecture / Interior / Product Design

  • Good understanding of Radiance scripting. Strong Dialux or AGI lighting calculation software skills may be considered as alternative to Radiance

  • Proficient with AutoCAD

  • Familiar with Adobe Create Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and etc)

  • Substantial knowledge and experience in lighting design consultancy and understanding various types of lighting calculation techniques

  • Substantial knowledge of the local marketplace, including critical issues and a sound client network

  • Ability to undertake high level analysis

  • Substantial experience in managing key projects, including the management of multi-disciplinary project teams

  • Substantial experience in the consulting engineering environment, including the ability to advise clients on cost-effective, sustainable solutions

  • Substantial experience in guiding the professional development of less experienced engineers (and hence, the skill development of the team)
