Assistant Director, Security

Reporting directly to the Director of Security and in the absence of Director of Security, he/she will report to the Hotel Manager.The Assistant Director of Security is responsible for overseeing the security, and protection of the hotel premises and properties and to ensure the overall safety of all guests and colleagues and their personal belongings.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Thorough knowledge of the hotel Crisis Management

  • Conduct investigation when required

  • Work well with local government agencies such as Singapore Police Force (SPF), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), National Environment Authority (NEA) and etc.

  • Responsible for the Security Manager, Assistant Security Manager and Security Executive.

  • Ensure compliance to audit conducted by Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) and government agencies such as SPF and SCDF.

  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day security team of the property to ensure the safety and security of all guests, staff and hotel property.

  • Review and conduct performance evaluations for security staff.

  • Implement all security and safety policies and procedures.

  • Design and implement preventive security programmes

  • Prevent situations that could jeopardize the reputation of the hotel.

  • Document all incidents that occur in the hotel in connection with crime, subversions, potential liabilities and insurance requirements.

  • Assist Security Colleagues in handling unusual guest or employee problems, such as, but not limited to, disorderly conduct, thefts, suicides, bomb threats, employee or guest accidents, fire or safety hazards, robberies, terrorist activities, civil disturbances, power or elevator failures, medical assistance and natural disasters.

  • To schedule and train security colleagues and managers and colleagues in all aspects of skills and knowledge and on policies and procedures and emergency procedures

  • Keep abreast of developments within the hotel and community as they relate to security as well as act as a liaison with local law-enforcement agencies.

  • Remain informed of current local laws and regulations as they relate to the hotel, particularly in the area of guests, patrons and employees’ rights.

  • Carry out duties as part of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

  • Provide security coverage for VIP guests.

  • Work together with security and safety team from Raffles City Complex.

  • Oversee and ensure expenditures are within the budget.

  • Ensure all hotel employees comply with hotel and department policies and procedures at all times.

  • Carry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Management of the Hotel.

  • Attend HODs or other meetings in the absence of Director of Security.


Employee Status
  • Minimum GCE ‘A’ level / Diploma

  • At least 5-8 years hotel’s security experience in a hotelEx-police or military officer preferred

  • Previous administration of persons in lifesaving or property protection situations

  • Experienced in CPR, first aid, fire-fighting and Work Safety will have an advantage

  • Experienced in Occupational and Health Safety Management System

  • Good computer skills and Investigation knowledge

  • High level of integrity

  • Good presentation skills

  • Possess a valid security license issued by Police Licensing Regulatory Department (PLRD)

  • Able to work under pressure and deliver task assigned on the deadlines given

  • Good leadership skills and able to work independently

  • Team player and able to motivate the security team

  • High level of confidentiality and sensitivity when handling investigation cases

  • Data management on incidents and respective analysis resulting in actionplans that will increase overall security levels
