Infrastructure Physical Security Team: New Region Coordinator

AWS Infrastructure Physical Security team is looking for a New Region Coordinator who will lead a Security Assessment Team (SAT) in various global regions and provide operational security support to new region launches. The successful candidate will establish and provide operational security support for construction/early access security oversight, vendor sourcing/management for system integration and guard services, talent sourcing for dedicated cluster teams, and day to day operations support for new cluster launches. This role will integrate with the DCO/DCEO Away team members and provide on the ground security integration and operational security support, in the absence of a dedicated cluster security team and in close coordination with regional security team members. Training of the new cluster security team will be a responsibility to ensure consistent security hand offs to cluster operation teams, globally. When not supporting Away Team activities, this role will function as a resource to support cluster expansions, site exits, surge support, and project based work.


§ Research and analyze a variety of global security threats that may impact domestic and international business development on behalf of AWS

§ Conduct event monitoring for potential threats or ongoing security situational concerns using social media platforms, law enforcement contacts, and local news sources

§ Develop and maintain a security check list for proposed business development sites based on established threat matrix

§ Document findings in a clear and concise format for submission for further analysis

§ Provide operational security support for vendor sourcing/management, talent sourcing, and day to day operations support for business partners.

§ Partner with DCO/DCEO and other Infra Ops. Physical Security Team Members to establish a security operations program, consistent with global processes and procedures

§ Manage processes and make decisions in a highly ambiguous environment with little or no oversight

§ Utilize strong problem resolution, time management, and independent planning skills to operate in high stress situations and relay information in a timely and accurate manner

§ BS/BA (preferably in international relations, political science, regional studies, or a security-related area) or equivalent work experience

§ 5+ years experience in investigations, security, intelligence, law enforcement, research, or any other related security operation positions

§ Security Operations experience in technology, manufacturing, or similar industries, to include access control systems, CCTV, and defense in depth strategies

§ The ability to write clearly and concisely with short deadlines and quick turnaround times, while still effectively communicating information in a structured analytical way

§ Ability and availability to travel domestically/internationally travel up to 50% with little or no notice

§ Fluency/competency in one or more foreign languages

§ 10+ years’ experience in security related positions preferred

§ Investigative experience is highly desirable

§ Experience living abroad, extensive travel, or demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment

§ Personal network of intelligence, law enforcement, security and other industry/professional contacts is highly desirable

§ Former military, law enforcement, or data center security experience a plus

§ PMP, CPP, PSP or CISSP Certification

§ Certification or Hands-On working experience with Lenel Access Control Systems

§ Lean Six Sigma belt
