The Walt Disney Company Finance Director in Singapore, Singapore

Add to that the tremendous geographical coverage of this Region and you have a role which is truly varied. In view of SEA’s growth, we are now looking for a Finance Director to join our Finance team. Reporting to the CFO, this person will also work in close partnership with the Head of Media Networks and other functional teams in Media Networks to define and drive commercial strategies and deliver on operating & profitability goals for the Media Networks division (including Channel Management, Program and Channel distribution, Disney Interactive, Content & Media, Disney Digital Network) in South East Asia.

Leading a team of 5, the primary areas of focus will be optimizing the reporting, forecasting and planning processes, and providing strong & solid support to all business leaders within Media Networks, and more specifically to the GM of Media Networks.

Responsibilities : Lead the financial planning and reporting processes

  • Lead 5 Year Plan, Budget & Quarterly Forecast P&Ls, Quarterly & Year-end Close reports, presentations and submissions, including support of territory plans

  • Monitor business performance versus both internal (historical trends, business plans) and external benchmarks (competition, TV landscape, technical development)

  • Provide and communicate timely, relevant, and precise information to key stakeholders, including various producer groups and SEA management

  • Act as primary liaison with Burbank Finance and Accounting team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information

Commercial analysis & risk management

  • Perform deal evaluation to support management decision on sales negotiations and play an integral part in negotiations where appropriate

  • Develop financial models and analysis for decision support purposes across a range of areas including operational reviews, strategic planning, and the evaluation of medium to long-term business initiatives

  • Monitor and proactively manage & mitigate P&L and Balance Sheet risks

Ultimate Reporting

  • Manage Disney Media Distribution i.e. DMD’s asset base on a portfolio basis through the Ultimates reporting process

  • Working closely with Sales and Producer groups to develop product strategies for the region, track and manage reporting to producer groups

  • Provide specific green-light and acquisition ultimates on request

Team Management

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to commercially focused Finance team, and support their career development and continuous learning of the company’s business

Ad Hoc Project Manager

  • Assisting CFO with a multitude of ad hoc projects

Basic Qualifications :

  • Graduate from accredited university and MBA with at least 14 year of relevant experience

  • First class track record in operational and commercially focused finance roles within multi-national companies

  • Preference for candidate with experienced in the entertainment and/or media sectors, with exposure to digital business, new technologies/new channels of film distribution, social media

  • Solid exposure to financial planning and analysis; focus on business support to commercial executives.

  • Ability to stay focused, work across multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner, and to optimize/simplify processes where necessary

  • US GAAP experience

  • Structured and highly analytical in approach and able to work in a lean, driven environment

  • Excellent communicator in English, with good influencing skills and the ability to communicate well with peers and senior executives locally and on a remote basis
