Principal Accountabilities

45% - Daily/Weekly/Monthly tasks

  • Daily position reporting – Consolidate trading team’s open positions and ensure positions are reported accurately daily.

  • Spread analysis – Responsible for updating physical futures spreads for the team timely and accurately.

  • Risk Exposure report – Work closely with shipping, trade execution, finance and other relevant functions to come up with a consolidated risk report that highlights the various risk (Fx/Shipping/Contracts) that the team is exposed to.

  • Market Insights – Consolidate and compile market insights/reports from traders.

  • Balance Scorecard – Work closely with various functions to compile balance scorecard, a report used to evaluate trading performance.

40% - Ad-hoc projects

  • Process improvement projects to help trading team improve/streamline processes. Will involve excel and other external softwares.

  • Support trading team on analytical work around calculation of volatility adjusted hedging ratios, spreads and other trading related analysis.

  • Support trading team on the generation of presentation decks for customer/internal presentations

  • Other adhoc projects.

15% - Trade Entry

  • Liase with Traders, Trade Execution and External parties to ensure trades are entered/updated in the system accurately and timely.


Education, Experience, Skills

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • University undergraduate with a preference in Economics and finance.

  • Basic knowledge of financial instruments, physical trading and derivatives.

  • Proficient in MS office, oral and written English. Proficiency in Chinese is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good understanding of commodities markets (Particularly in steel), futures markets, physical trade flows, incoterms.

  • Basic proficiency in VBA.
