The Lead Project Controller will be responsible for both cost and schedule on projects and/or larger projects as well as build project schedule and budgeting in cost and schedule tools.
In addition, you will also be responsible for (but not limited to):
•Building tender integrated schedules and cost estimates
•Ensuring compliance to the Global Standard process for Project Controls
•Supporting Project Managers to align project budgets to as sold in appropriate systems
•Maintaining project schedule and cost forecast throughout project
•Analysing schedule and cost trends and provides forecasted cost and schedules to project team
•Maintaining a register of potential schedule and cost risks as well as a register of actual and committed costs.
•Conduting checks and controls cost movements, compares with current scope and progress as well as with previous forecast, besides comparing with productivity factors and validating accuracy of estimates
•Communicating schedule and cost status/forecasts/risk to functional cost owners and drives/supports risk mitigation
•Providing internal and external project reporting of project status
•Collaborating with multi-discipline teams made up project management, finance, procurement and engineering on project cost and schedules
•Present all financial data in a transparent way, attends project and management review to present cost status
•Providing change order calculations to ensure schedule and cost estimates are accurate
•Updating changes in appropriate systems to ensure costs are aligned to the current situation
•Working closely with th Finance Controller to ensure reconciliation takes place between approved project financial data and books.
•Supporting project close out and claims
•Leading the team of Project Cost Control analysts on larger projects
•Providing support to tenders
•Overseeing the planning function on the project
•Be accountable for quality of the project controlling reporting.
•Accuracy of cost budgets, actuals and forecasting
•Collaboration with functional cost owners to find strategies to reduce cost
To be successful in this role, you would demonstrate and/or possess the following
• A degree in Engineering or Finance from a locally or internationally recognized university
• At least 5 years experience in planning of large turnkey projects of which at least 2 years providing cost controlling on large turnkey projects
•Those with experience from Power and/or Oil and Gas industries would be considered
• Those with previous experience as a lead planner would be highly regarded
•Knowledge in cost estimating, forecasting, project accounting & controlling & scheduling
•Local GAAP awareness would be advantageous, but not essential
•Able to demonstrate experience in Excel, SAP or other data handling software would be essential
•Ability to demonstrate commercial acumen, strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach when dealing with project teams
