Description

Position Purpose

To excel in delivery consistently high quality customer service by virtue of their experience, skills and demonstrated behaviors. This position requires a drive for continuous improvement and close liaison with internal and external Cargill customers. Further to this the incumbent will provide proactive support to commercial teams during the pre-fixing and post-fixture processes. The incumbent should have or have the intention to develop a thorough understanding of the customer’s business and maintaining a high level of efficiency throughout all tasks.

Principal Accountabilities

Operations (50%)

  • Regular contact with customer via phone, email, and face to face communication.

  • Primary contact for customers in case of complaints or general concerns.

  • Follow up on customer issues, providing solutions and escalating issues as necessary.

  • Thorough knowledge of customers’ business and structure.

  • Participate in customer events and forums.

  • Analyze customer operational issues and events, identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Introduce customer solutions.

  • Confirm if the due diligence check is required for strategic / full rigor accounts.

  • Work closely with Marine operations coordinators to find the best solution on customer matters.

  • Partner closely with sales and trading team to support prospective customers.

  • Onboarding of new customers.

  • Liaising with Vessel and laytime operations on customer requirements and feedback.

  • Work closely with Trading team and provide technical expertise, where required.

  • Liaising with Marine operations coordinators on settling customer claims and overdue invoices.

  • Projects and process improvements related to customers.

  • Provide cover for Marine operation coordinators on operational matters when required.

Business Partnership (30%)

-Able to handle and understand a broader range of customers needs across vessels size/location and commodities.

-Show leadership in dealing with other team and location.

-Able to handle multiple full and strategic customers with high level of expertise.

Sharing custom solution across size, location and commodities.

Customer (20%)

-Quality of customer’s contact/relationship measured through the frequency and content of their interaction.

-Customer feedback (direct and indirect).

-Generate and execute ideas and initiatives to sustain customer base.

Essential Functions/Requirements

  • Regular out of office response customers will be required.

  • Regular travel to customers will be required.

  • To cater to the requirements of the region we operate, mandarin proficiency is an advantage.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills

Education

  • Bachelor Degree with discipline in maritime studies or engineering or Maritime Certificate of competency.

Experience

  • Min. 5 years relevant experience as either a Merchant Marine Deck Officer or Vessel Operations of Time Charter Vessels in dry bulk.

Skills

  • Able to work effective solutions to dynamic marine operations while maintain a high level of customer service.

  • Strong communicator both written and spoken.

  • Ethical in approach to safeguard reputational interest of the company.

  • Problem solver. Must be able to effectively deals with ambiguity and work an issue to a solution.

  • Must possess emotional intelligence to remain open towards new ideas /concepts.

  • Able to make decisions under pressure.

  • Able to think on one’s feet.

  • Able to prioritize tasks and multi-task.

  • Good team player. Able to effectively coordinate and leverage on resources to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Possesses the drive for continuous improvement of self and others.

  • Manage diversity both in and out of the workplace.

  • Knowledge of IMOS or other voyage operation systems.
