The position of Shopper Manager is designed to become a value-adding partner to his/her customers (management, affiliate companies ,GFOs, Global Customers, , ad hoc project teams) through:

Leading the development and implementation of retail solutions that support the regional shopper goal. This will involve:

  • Forming a close partnership with the GFO team to understand Franchise objectives and targets

  • Delivering a clear, commercially compelling rationale for J&J’s customer base

  • With GSI, leading a programme of shopper insight research across the region

  • Leading a network of local shopper experts to lead the identification and development of business building retail solutions

  • Developing and delivering these methodologies across the region

  • Enhancing the skills and capabilities of local category solutions managers through “hands on” involvement in ongoing category partnership work

The position will be measured primarily on:

  • NTS & financials

  • Deployment of regional ”Perfect Retail” solutions

  • New Product execution

  • Status of prioritized category partnerships across region against agreed targets

  • Financial results from prioritized skincare category customer partnerships

Working with GFO

  • Responsible for category vision – development and alignment with markets

  • Inject Voice of Customer and Shopper into strategic discussions at RFLTs and ad hoc meetings

  • Develop Commercial arguments to support Pipeline projects to ensure superior execution

  • Working with Lead market(s), develop full recommendation for support programme for launches, etc

  • Working with lead market, ensure launch support materials are delivered (e.g KVIs, toolkits)

  • Working with RGM colleagues, help develop, align and govern promotional and pricing strategies

Owning retail solutions

  • Work with lead market teams to develop “Perfect retail ” solutions including:

  • Appropriate display, adjacencies, POS material, and promotional recommendation

  • Identify these aspects by channel and format (where they differ)

  • Monitor deployment and ensure customer plans incorporate them

  • Drive compliance and implementation within all markets

  • Provide tools for distributors for GT activation

Lead the development of critical skincare shopper insights that underpin J&J category solutions

  • Work with GSI to advise and implement an ongoing Shopper research programme

  • Translate shopper research insights into business driving opportunities

  • Develop specific customer action plans

  • Understand emerging channels impact

Working with Global Customers

  • Work with GCDs to develop strategic skincare platform with top Global customers:

  • Align on strategic drivers by market

  • Lead shopper thinking and help deliver tailored solutions

  • Monitor implementation of “Perfect Retail”

  • Provide strategic insights for Top to Top relationship

Capability development

  • Lead the Category network of local shopper teams

  • Use other events such as Shopper Webbex, Customer Directors Conference & Business plan week to sharpen country & customer team focus behind instore.

  • Support Shopper Academy with materials and facilitation

Qualifications

This is a senior Shopper role. We are looking for energy, inspiration, the desire to innovate, the determination to “make it happen” and above all the ability to spot the opportunity and take it! The individual is likely to have:

  • A minimum of around 7 years business experience with ideally 4 of those in an FMCG shopper or marketing role

  • A deep understanding of key customer issues

  • Strong personal impact

  • Maturity and confidence to deal with all levels of management and customer partners

  • Good planning skills and attention to detail

  • A strategic thinker with the determination to deliver results

  • Comfortable with uncertainty and a dream to challenge the status quo

  • Creative flair
