Brief Description

The Intra Asia Oceania Service Management Senior Analyst/ Specialist will assist and support the Head, Intra Asia Oceania Line in managing and overseeing all lines within Intra Asia Oceania Trade for the smooth execution of all services under his/her purview through working with all parties across the organization.

Key Result Areas

  • Assist Head, Intra Asia Oceania Lines to develop an overall network plan for Oceania lines detailing how the network is set up to achieve Trade’s long term strategic aims. The plan will encompass coverage, allocation by markets, number of loops, rotations, ships to be used (size and design), partners to work with, potential slot exchanges or slot sale and resulting forecasted cost to operate to be in line with industry.

  • Assist the Head, Intra Asia Oceania Lines to monitor the operational performance of the lines under his/her purview on a daily basis to optimize each line and to ensure the operational feasibility of a proforma. Assist the Head, Intra Asia Oceania Lines to prepare proposals to right-size ships, eliminate or add legs and streamline port move counts to align with prevailing market conditions. Actions emerging from these discussions could include proforma changes (sailing speed, port, move count), ship upsize/downsize/design changes, slot sale to external parties.

  • Assist the Head, Intra Asia Oceania Lines to plan specific lines under his/her purview for potential peak season loaders or slack season void programs. Where there are service exceptions, he/she will assist the Head, Intra Asia Oceania Lines to coordinate with all parties within the organization in executing the recovery plan. For any void sailing or port omission, he/she will need to support the Line Manager in establishing a recovery plan and ensure that operational stakeholders parties across the organization (Ops, EFC) are coordinated and working according to the recovery plan

  • Assist the Head, Intra Asia Oceania Line on the pricing activities for the Oceania trade. He/She will need to analyze, evaluate, research and process all pricing, bid, contract and rate enquiries for the Oceania trade to ensure optimal utilization. At the same time, he/she will need to drive the local sales offices to deliver the budget target set by Trade.

Key Accountabilities/Duties

  • Monthly allocation review using OPA output to ensure maximum yield and utilization of vessels. Monitor the variance between OPA output and past actual loading to identify shortcomings.

  • Generating yield reports on a weekly basis. Provide insights and analysis on improving profitability.

  • Monitor and ensure timely TMA forecast by sales office. Identify and highlight any shortfall to the Pricing team for recovery.

  • Develop network plans and studies in developing new markets and other related issues under his/her respective scope.

  • To ensure timely responses to pricing, bid, contract and rate enquiries are in accordance with trade objectives, revenue, volume and contribution budget targets.

  • To ensure all contracts and rates filing are implemented and executed in conformance to our contract clauses

  • On an ad-hoc basis, assume overall responsibility in the event that major exceptions occur to ensure full recovery is achieved on a timely basis.

Job specifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of liner experience with understanding of ship operations, pricing, network design and yield optimization principles is preferred

  • Strong intellect and analytical skills that enables the incumbent to understand and optimize complex and interlinked rotations
