Analytics team is looking for a talented and driven data scientist to join our team to support projects partnering with governments, NGOs, and think tanks. Our projects have ranged from understanding talent migration to computing the relative supply and demand of skills on a local, national, and international level. We are looking for an individual passionate about mining big data, turning data into insights, and making an impact through rigorous analysis, creative storytelling, and timely actions. This highly-visible role requires an adaptable analytics professional that can turn broad, ambiguous questions into tangible insights communicated clearly to partners. This role will be specifically responsible for delivering analytics that are relevant to the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. large datasets to investigate key regional trends, behaviors and metrics, while showing awareness of the particular characteristics of each part of the regionTake customized one-off analyses and scale them to represent millions of members across the EMEA region and globallyBrainstorm creative solutions to economic problems, and support solutions with hypothesis-based analytical evidenceBuild reports, dashboards, models and tools to help our policy team communicate the value of LinkedIn to external stakeholders, while aware of the particular regional, national or international context for the researchPerform external research to refine hypotheses and cross-validate results and build awareness of appropriate national and regional data sourcesConsult and communicate with LinkedIn’s policy team and external policy leaders to showcase Economic Graph insights, and how they might be leveraged/applied and/or tailored in different marketsStay up to date on economic theories that can inform new intellectual property/research projectsAssist with developing strategy and managing operational metrics for various initiativesCoordinate cross-functionally with engineering, PR, marketing, product and sales to drive business objectives, and understand how our work drives business objectives in key marketsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a quantitative or social sciences field of study such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, and Public PolicyExperience using R, Python, Stata, or other scripting languages for data prep, analysis, and machine learningExperience using SQL analyzing datasets with databases such as Teradata, Oracle, and MySQL3+ years of research and/or analytics experience within a relevant industry or organizationPreferred QualificationsMasters or PhD degree in a quantitative or social sciences field of studyBackground and experience in statistics, predictive modeling, and machine learningExperience working in the internet industry, on social impact, public policy or consultingExperience with applied social science research or familiarity with publicly-available government data sets such as those provided by Eurostat, the Office for National Statistics (UK), INSEE (France) the World Bank, the UN, the BLS and Census Bureau (US) and other national and international statistical agenciesFamiliarity with data visualization and/or BI tools (Ex.
