APL SSE Analyst/ Specialist (Sustainability & Customer support Desk) in Singapore, Singapore

Global Safety, Security and Environment (GSSE) has been tasked to provide expertise and support to commercial team with respect to company’s Sustainability initiatives and branding. Newly identified GSSE’s role to monitor, measure and provide report of company’s Emission and carbon footprint Reduction, to APL key global accounts, aligning with Group emission reduction goal and adopting best practice against external benchmark GSSE to facilitate and support company’s communication on sustainability effort to external customers, and training to APL employees to raise awareness of APL’s progress in SSE procedures, and sustainability progress.

Key Result Areas

  • Provide guidance to Commercial / customer_support functions including contracts and bids requirement for carbon emission data (CCWG), SSE information and Sustainability progress in a timely fashion

  • External Reporting: Support commercial effort to keep key customers informed of APL sustainability initiatives and carbon footprints profile on APL services, through regular reports to improve customer sustainability scoring.

  • Internal Communication: raising awareness of APL employees, including commercial and sales team, of APL sustainability performance and SSE policy, through regular reports and training programs.

  • Research and establish industry benchmark and sustainability best practices as yardstick for APL sustainability performance

  • Develop system and tools development to enhance APL’s monitoring and reporting efficiency and accuracy, on sustainability and emissions performance.

Key Accountabilities/Duties

  • Provide guidance to PAC (Pricing Admin) to complete customer-specific emission report using CCWG methodology; safety and environment information, and sustainability specifics as required in the customer contracts and surveys.

  • Analyse and provide emission by trade lane, extract cargo profile for selected customers. Provide quarterly update and APL sustainability highlights to reports to selected Global Accounts on quarterly basis

  • Update SSE, environment and Sustainability FAQs on Quarterly basis or as required and provide to PAC’s database (Pramataq), and other customer engagement teams as sales tool

  • Publish quarterly APL GSSE / Sustainability report with input from Steering committee, Corporate communication, and direction from Commercial and GSSE management

  • Assist in the APL’s submission of Sustainability ranking agency such as Ecovadis and CDP( Carbon Disclosure Project), establish industry benchmark for APL performance

  • Assist in SSE training projects, including online training tools such as CTPAT STEP training, as assigned.

  • Support Corporate Communication / media’s effort to to highlight APL progress in SSE, sustainability and award presentation.

Incumbent specification

Education:

Degree in the sciences, business, environmental management or related fields or Diploma with relevant commercial Shipping experiences

Experiences:

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in commercial shipping experiences in trade / sales, or environmental / sustainability management experiences

  • Proficiency in commercial database research and management is required

  • Experience in environmental and sustainability affairs and/or corporate communication experience will be advantageous

Skills Sets:

  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.

  • Good working knowledge on database management systems and presentation.

  • Web research and IT application knowledge

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Independent, resourceful with good social and cross functional networking skill.

  • Able to work under pressure and tight datelines.

  • Must be dedicated, meticulous and professional.

Desired Competencies (Typical):

  • Proficient in MS Office (excel, Words and powerpoint) applications

  • Good understanding of commercial, customer engagement and sales processes, shipping services and network products

  • Interest in carbon foot print, emission calculation from maritime shipping perspectives

  • Basic Understanding of the international environment regulation landscape

Desired Competencies (nice to have):

  • Understanding of Sustainability reporting requirement and components

  • Media and commercial communication outreach report writing
