Job Description Summary

Co-ordinates with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance department and contract sterilizer in the timely release of products and components. Establish and monitor the basic minimum standards required for microbiological and biochemical testing of sterile medical devices, and sterilization validation programs.Manages laboratory team in qualification of testing in harmonisation within BD.Supervision of Microlab Team.

Job Description

1.01 Establish and monitor the basic minimum standards required for microbiological and biochemical testing of sterile medical devices.

  • Guidance documents and General Operating Procedures

  • Maintains formal and informal measurement systems to trend and analyse data

  • Management reporting

1.02 Independently manages laboratory team in qualification of testing in harmonisation within BD.

1.03 Qualification protocols for all tests associated with manufacturing of sterile medical devices, including but not limited to product and packaging bioburden tests, sterility assurance tests, sterilant residual tests, and cleanroom environmental monitoring tests.

1.04 Ensure that any outside consultants are properly selected and managed.

1.05 Co-ordinates with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance departments in the timely release of devices and components for distribution.

  • Consistent and accurate reports required for product releasedevices and components for distribution.

  • Formal and informal measurements for turnaround time on test reports

  • Strong intradepartmental communications for co-ordination of release

  • Apply technically sound and statistically significant problem solving techniques to quality and compliance issues

1.06 Co-ordinates with Manufacturing in the development and validation of test method and sterilisation process to support site projects.

1.07 Has the authority to sign for Microbiologist.

1.08 Participate or drive continuous improvement initiatives/activities.

1.09 Safety & ISO 14001 Environmental accountability: Ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally-friendly workplace by observing Company's rules and procedures. Active involvement in prevention, elimination of potential safety hazards and participation in activities which promotes recycling, replacement and reduction of resource materials.

1.10 Safety & health accountability: Safety and health are important to BD and we encourage the observance of all safety programs and training assigned to you. Such programs are to be attended in a timely manner to ensure that work tasks carried out are in accordance to our safety guidelines and SOPs.
