The Opportunity

You will be a core member of EY’s fully-dedicated, cross-regional, FinTech Team , responsible for originating opportunities with new and existing clients – as well as advising clients on new financial technologies, processes, and business models. You will be responsible for driving a coordinated and best-in- class go to market approach through collaborating with, and growing, EY’s existing community of regional financial technology professionals. You need to be passionate about driving innovation in the financial services industry and help the firm strengthen networks with a broad range of stakeholders including, start-ups, financial services incumbents, governments, regulators, venture capital companies and other service providers within the FinTech ecosystem. Ideally, you will have experience in building or scaling financial technology start-ups – as well as existing FinTech relationships.

Qualifications:

Your key responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with FinTechs, incumbent Financial Services firms, and other industry participants

  • Work with multi-functional teams to drive business development activities across EY – directly originating opportunities for engagement teams across the firm

  • Act as FinTech subject matter expert where required, developing thought leadership solutions and industry content that differentiates EY from competitors.

  • Drive specific FinTech initiatives both internally and externally – with a particular focus on payments innovation, ‘open banking’, and fintech partnership models

  • Be aware of, and engage with, FinTech market activities

  • Liaise with EY EMEIA and EY Americas FinTech teams about current trends and activity across markets in order to ensure a global perspective

Skills and attributes for success

  • Proactive and entrepreneurial: demonstrable experience in identifying, nurturing and executing new ideas

  • Ability to operate successfully in, and bridge the divide between, start-up and corporate business environments

  • Skilled communicator, capable of presenting complex or novel ideas to non-technical audiences; experience in presentation design is desirable

  • Strong research and critical thinking / analytical skills

  • Passion for and knowledge of FinTech trends and activity

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Minimum of three years (Supervising Associate) to seven years (Associate Director) experience in building or scaling a FinTech start-up, working on innovation/ partnerships / corporate development side of a top-tier financial institution; or working on the strategy or technology advisory teams of a top-tier consulting firm, with a focus on Financial Services

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the payments sector – whether via card schemes, banking, or non-traditional players
