Xilinx, Inc. Staff Research Engineer in Singapore

Xilinx is the world's leading provider of All Programmable FPGAs, SoCs and 3D ICs. These industry-leading devices are coupled with a next-generation design environment and IP to serve a broad range of customer needs, from programmable logic to programmable systems integration. Xilinx All Programmable devices underpin today's most advanced electronics.

Xilinx Labs, part of the CTO Office at Xilinx, is concerned with innovation, differentiation, and the de-risking of technology. Goals are to: enable new users; provide a ‘more than Moore’ roadmap; seed new market opportunities; and win the mindshare of startup and research communities. Xilinx Labs is establishing a new group at the Xilinx Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, to complement its existing groups at the Xilinx headquarters in North America and in Europe.

The Staff Research Engineer will be a founding member of the Xilinx Labs Asia-Pacific group, comprising a Director and PhD-level research staff, as well as research interns. The research engineer will participate in the building of a collaborative ecosystem in Singapore and around the Asia-Pacific region, including startups, research institutes, and university groups. The research engineer will participate in relevant industry forums and research conferences.

The Staff Research Engineer will be an active researcher with an established international reputation, who makes technical contributions to projects that deliver value for Xilinx. These contributions will span hardware, software, and applications, using a variety of languages, methodologies, and tools. The initial technical plan for the new group is to focus on edge computing (both communication aspects like software-defined networking, and computation aspects like machine learning) and integrated security mechanisms. It is expected that the research engineer will have a background and practical skills that enable significant contributions within these areas. However, it is essential that the research engineer has a flexible approach to research topics, since Xilinx Labs adopts a very agile approach to address rapidly changing opportunities and priorities.
