This role supervises a group of Underwriters and/or Underwriting Analysts (2 or more Exempt/5 or more Nonexempt), including planning and monitoring work, development of underwriting and/or marketing skills, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines. Additionally, this position spends a considerable amount of time underwriting, marketing and performing other duties of their direct reports. This position is responsible for performance management and the application of company policy, however is typically not accountable for the overall business results of the unit.
50 % - Plan, manage and evaluate work of staff, as well as make decisions regarding pay, performance management, employment and staffing.
50 % - Performs underwriting, marketing and other duties similar to those of their direct reports.
Underwriting of new business / renewals from Agents/ Brokers in accordance to underwriting authority
Day to day servicing of existing portfolio
Develop Agents / Brokers relationships to produce business opportunities and build on the Company profile in the market
Achieve budget across areas of responsibility.
Work with other Departments Divisions across AIG to achieve corporate objectives
Put up referrals to Regional management to support underwriting decisions and actions.
Takes personal responsibility for career development and proactively keep up to date with industry and business issues.
Prioritize workload to achieve internal and external deadlines
Delivery of profit centre new business budget
Delivery of profit centre renewal retention
Maintain / create market relationship with producers
Diploma / Degree with at least 3 years of General Insurance experience
Preferably from Casualty line of business
Broad knowledge of the insurance industry
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Good team player with excellent interpersonal skill
Ability to analyze data to make accurate assessment of risk
Self-motivated and uses own initiative for both internal and external issues
Capabilities to maintain a flexible approach in a changing work environment
Analytical individual with strong business acumen
Strong negotiation skills
