About the Agency
The selectee for this position will serve as a Mail and File Clerk in Singapore of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR YOKOSUKA.
As a Mail and File Clerk you will be responsible for providing postal services support and assistance to parent tenant and forces afloat command and their family members.

Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference eligibles residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
Military Spouses may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date. However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference.
Military spouses who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee's sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member.
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Determine if article presented for mailing can be mailed and will not present a risk to employees or equipment.
- Sort and distribute incoming dependent mail.
- Utilize a Navy Specific computer program forwards, returns to sender, locates and holds all mail that is undeliverable due to incomplete or incorrect addresses.
- Dispatch outgoing mail, which includes facing, canceling, sorting, labeling, typing and sacking of mail as required by the area mail routing guidelines.
- Sort incoming mail (i.e., letters, packages, newspapers, magazines) as required.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position.
